Teach Your Kids Road Safety - Even if they're riding their bicycles safely, don't allow them on the street until they've learned the rules and can ride properly. Teach them to stop, wait, and look both ways before getting onto the road. Explain the hazards of intersections. Demonstrate how to signal. Practice quick stops. A great way to hone their skills is to plan a neighborhood ride with them and then let them lead. As you follow along, point out dangers and coach your child in the skills they need to master to ride safely on the road. If you keep it fun, they'll learn quickly and become cyclists for life.
